Microsoft 365 Quarantined Email

Received an email from Microsoft 365 about quarantined emails?

First...

Don’t ignore these emails, they’re important for a number of reasons and if you don’t check their content, you might be missing important emails.

The Basics

Don’t ignore these emails, they’re an important new security feature of 365. We’ll walk you through the basics here so you can understand what they’re all about.

These types of emails can be confusing, but they’re also important… here’s why.

Microsoft will quarantine emails it considers to be malicious, and that means you don’t get to see those emails at all, as they’ve been ‘captured’ before hitting your inbox or even your junk/spam folder.

When emails are quarantined, two very important things happen:

1. You don’t see those emails at all, they’re captured before hitting your inbox or junk.
2. The sender isn’t notified in any way… not with a bounce notification or any other method.

What that means is that you might be missing important emails, with neither you nor the sender being notified that the email hasn’t arrived… except for the fact that Microsoft notifies you using these quarantine emails.

Important Note: if you’re not receiving quarantine email notifications from Microsoft, it’s very possible that you’re still having emails being captured by quarantine, so you should have your 365 administrator take a look to make sure that everything is setup correctly.

Never give anyone remote access to your computer. Never.

This is the most important rule of all. Giving someone remote access to your computer gives them control of every aspect of your life. More Information

Never give anyone remote access to your computer... never, ever.

This information applies to the following computers & devices:

  • Windows Computers
  • Apple Computers
  • Android Phones & Tablets
  • iPhones & iPads

No matter what they say, no matter who they say they are or where they say they’re from… don’t ever give anyone remote access to your computer.

Why is this so important?

The moment someone has access to your computer, they can access everything your computer could possibly have access to, including bank accounts, email accounts and any other online accounts you’ve ever accessed.

That’s not all though… they can also likely access any other accounts you have, because once they have access to your email accounts, to the passwords you usually use and to all your other information… they can very easily get access to every account you might have.

How can you tell that you shouldn’t give someone access to your computer?

  1. No legitimate company is ever likely to call you to discuss problems with any of your accounts
  2. No legitimate company will ever ask you for remote access to your computer.

Which means that the answer is that you should never give anyone access to your computer remotely.. no matter who they say they are.

The moment someone on the phone asks you for access to your computer, simply hang up the phone.

If your printer suddenly stops printing and you think you’ll do the smart thing and fix it yourself… it seems logical to search Google for an answer. But this is one of the most common ways we see for users to end up downloading scam software.
